The two-axle diesel railcar HEG T 2 of the Hoyaer Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (HEG) was built in 1956 at Karosseriebau Buschmann in Hoya with the machine system from Hansa Waggonbau . The HEG carried out the interior work in-house. The single vehicle was operated for about 20 years by the HEG and the Verkehrsbetriebe Grafschaft Hoya and was retained.

History and commitment

In 1954 the railcar was designed by HEG and manufactured by Karosseriebau Buschmann in Hoya . The final assembly took place at HEG . It was given the designation HEG T 2 . In 1958 a sidecar with a similar appearance was procured, which was somewhat larger in size. The railcar handled passenger traffic with the HEG T 1 on the Eystrup – Hoya route. After the gauge changeover from 1963 to 1966, it was also used on what is now the VGH route to Syke. However, it also operated on federal railroad lines on behalf of DB. After the discontinuation of passenger rail traffic on the VGH in 1972, it was no longer needed. But there was no Beetle, so in 1976 it became the property of the German Railway Association , where it was used as a lounge with a kitchen. The sidecar was scrapped in 1981. In 1983 the railcar went to the Kleinbahn Leeste Association and in 1998 to the Association for the Maintenance of the Railroad in Hoyaer Land in Nienburg .

The vehicle has been in the collection of the interest group for the preservation of historic vehicles in Wilhelmshaven since 2010 .

Technical features / equipment

The railcar was designed in lightweight construction. The front section had rounded front corner windows, large headlights and a rounded roof section. The car body was produced in a self-supporting construction using a shell construction. The side windows were split into two translation windows . The passenger compartment had 50 seats in the 3 + 2 seating arrangement. The interior was bright and the seats were comfortable for their time. In the entry area the driver had his workplace in the middle, there were additional folding seats. The rear entrance area could be used as a luggage compartment, the entrance doors were single-leaf revolving doors and could be increased in width with an additional leaf.

The machinery consisted of an eight-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine from KHD and a Mylius gearbox .
