The HESA Shafaq , also called Shafagh ( Persian شفق, "Dawn" or "Aurora") is an Iranian subsonic stealth aircraft .
history
According to initial reports, the Shafaq was planned as a subsonic aircraft, although an improvement in this condition cannot be ruled out. According to Iranian reports, it will have a layer of radar absorbing material.
The two-seat aircraft appears to be based on the Russian-Iranian "Project Integral" and is equipped with Russian ejection seats. Three versions are planned: a two-seat trainer, a light ground attack aircraft and a two-seat fighter-bomber.
The Shafaq was developed by the Aviation University Complex (AUC), which is part of the Malek Ashtar University . At the beginning of the project, Iran received Russian aid and the aircraft was known as the Integral . Russia later turned away from development and Iran continued the work under the name Shafaq .
A 1: 7 scale model was tested in the wind tunnel and pictures posted to show that a full-size model was also built. The completion of the first prototype was planned for 2008. The Shafaq's cockpit includes a Russian K-36D ejection seat and a color multifunction display .
