HMS Encounter
The following ships of the British Royal Navy were named Encounter or HMS Encounter .
- The first encounter was a discovery ship in service in 1616
- The second encounter was a brig with 16 guns. The ship was launched in 1805 and destroyed in 1812
- The third encounter was a wooden screw corvette . The ship was launched in 1846 and demolished in 1866.
- The fourth encounter was a wooden screw corvette. The ship was launched in 1873 and sold in 1888.
- The fifth Encounter was a protected cruiser of the Challenger class . The ship was launched in 1902. She was transferred to the Royal Australian Navy in 1919 and renamed HMAS Penguin . She served as a depot ship until she was sunk .
- The sixth encounter was a destroyer . It was launched in 1934 and sunk itself in 1942.
