occupation

Terror from space - Nightbeast is a science fiction - horror film of Don Dohler from 1982. The film was later by Troma Entertainment purchased and marketed.

action

On an intergalactic flight through the solar system , the spaceship of a reptilian alien is hit by an asteroid and crash-lands on Earth. After his ship explodes, the highly aggressive alien begins to drag a trail of destruction through the small town of Perry Hill in the USA. The local Sheriff Cinder, Deputy Lisa Kent and some armed volunteers oppose the creature and its overpowering radiation pistol without success. They are evacuating the city and working on a plan to stop the bulletproof alien. However, the evacuation is difficult because the governor is attending a mayor's party and a rowdy is murdering his girlfriend at the same time.

However, the sheriff manages to stop the killer. Finally, an academic couple helps the sheriff. With a huge accumulator you can lure the creature into a power trap and turn it off.

production

The film was shot on a very low budget (about $ 42,000) in Baltimore , Maryland from August to September 1981 . It was released direct on video in the United States in November 1982. According to some sources, it is said to be some kind of remake of Don Dohler's 1978 film The Alien Factor . At least the story and some of the character names should be the same. In the 1990s, Troma Entertainment bought the film and released both a VHS and a DVD version.

A German-language version was initially published on VHS. This version was shortened by a sex scene and was indexed in Germany from 1984 to 2009 . The list was deleted on February 27, 2009. On November 7, 2011, an unabridged re-release on DVD was released in several limited and unlimited versions via the label '84 Entertainment . In 2012 Troma published the English language version of the film along with 150 other productions on the Internet video portal YouTube .

The later director and film producer JJ Abrams composed the music for the film. He was 16 years old at the time.

criticism

The film won over the genre republic primarily with its gore effects, less with a bungling sex scene and the generally poor acting of all actors.

On May 3, 2019, the film was shown in the Tele-5 series The Worst Films of All Time .
