HMS Volage

HMS Volage were the names of six ships of the Royal Navy :

  • HMS Volage (1798) , a sixth class corvette with 22 guns. It was previously a French privateer that was captured by the HMS Melampus (1785) in 1798 , scrapped: 1804.
  • HMS Volage (1807) , a sixth class frigate with 22 guns, launched in 1807, sold in 1818.
  • HMS Volage (1825) , a sixth class frigate with 28 guns Launched: 1825, converted into a research vessel in 1847, scrapped: 1874
  • HMS Volage (1869) , a corvette , was ordered as HMS Cerberus but renamed in 1867 before it was launched (1869), scrapping: 1904.
  • HMS Volage was to be named an Admiralty W-class destroyer, but the order was withdrawn in 1918.
  • HMS Volage (1943) , an Admiralty V-class destroyer, launched: 1943, converted into a submarine hunt frigate in 1951, sold in 1972.
