The HR class L locomotives , also known as 'Skye Bogies' due to their connection to the Kyle of Lochalsh Line , were 2'B locomotives on the Highland Railway (HR). The locomotives designed by David Jones were essentially a variant of the older Duke - or F-Class for mixed service. At the London, Midland and Scottish Railway they were later classified in the 1P class .

Nine locomotives were built at Lochgorm Works from 1882 to 1901. They weren't given names. In 1901 they were classified as class L.
technology
The 18-by-24-inch (457 mm × 610 mm) cylinders and controls were common to both classes, but they had smaller 5 foot 3 inch (1,600-mm) drive wheels and vessels with a higher pressure of 150 pounds. force per square inch (1,030 kPa). The kettle diameter was 4 ft 2 in (1.27 m).
