Vehicles 187 016 to 019 are narrow-gauge diesel railcars operated by the Harz narrow-gauge railways .
history
The railcars 187 016 to 019 were built for the Harz narrow-gauge railways on the basis of the experience gained there with the Wittenberg prototype 187 015 by the DB specialty works in Halberstadt . The aim was, on the one hand, to operate less frequented routes more efficiently and, on the other hand, to make suburban traffic from Nordhausen up to the extension and commissioning of tram line 10 more attractive. The railcars have 45 seats and 40 standing places. All four vehicles were delivered from 1999 onwards.
Areas of application
The main area of application is in the Nordhausen area. Here the vehicles are used on the Harzquerbahn and further on the Selketalbahn in professional, school and regional traffic as well as during off-peak times. A vehicle of this type also handles the railcar circulations on the Wernigerode - Eisfelder Talmühle route (northern part of the Harzquerbahn).
