The HSB 187 015 is a meter-gauge railcar of the Harz Narrow Gauge Railways .
history
Under the name SMVT 2000 developed DB -Werk Wittenberge a rail car for the narrow gauge railways in the former GDR. After a test, the railcar was bought by the Harz Narrow Gauge Railways and added to the fleet of locomotives as 187 015. The railcar was planned in such a way that, with minor changes, it could also be built for 750 mm and 900 mm routes, but such examples were never implemented. It is also approved for tram operation in accordance with BOStrab (visible signs are exterior mirrors) and has a closed toilet system.
The new railcars 187 016-019 were built on the basis of this prototype . In contrast to the railcars built later, the prototype is a little heavier, shorter, less motorized, but better curved and has fewer seats (43). The car body was made of lightweight steel. There is a two-part swing door and fold-out steps on each side of the vehicle . The Cummins six-cylinder diesel engine acts on a motor bogie via a fluid transmission, the second bogie is without a drive. The railcar received the nickname raspberry ice cream after a short time because of its raspberry-red color. Since this was already severely faded after a few years, it was given the usual color scheme of the HSB railcars in wine red and ivory for the upcoming main inspection in 2002. Mostly he was used in the planned service on the Selketalbahn .
In 2016, the railcar was parked for the timetable change and should not receive a general inspection after the deadline. The reasons given were the susceptibility to failure and the lack of compatibility.
