Ha-Meliz
Ha-Meliz (German transcription; English transcription Ha-Melitz) was the first Hebrew daily newspaper in the Russian Empire . It was published in Odessa and St. Petersburg from 1860 to 1903 .

In 1860, the newspaper was founded by Alexander Zederbaum in Odessa as a weekly newspaper. She mainly reported on political and everyday news. In 1862 Abraham Goldfaden published his first poems here. Kol Mewasser appeared as a supplement since 1863, making it the first Yiddish-language newspaper in Russia. From 1886 Ha-Meliz appeared daily.
In 1871 the editorial team had to move to Saint Petersburg. Authors such as Jehuda Leib Gordon , Mordechai Ehrenpreis, and others wrote for her. After the pogroms of 1881 in Russia, she increasingly turned to Zionist tendencies.
In 1903 the newspaper was discontinued.
