from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ha Baroana ( Sesotho ; German roughly: "Place of the Little San ") is a well-known site of rock paintings in the Maseru district in Lesotho .

location

Ha Baroana is located on the river bank of the Liphiring around 30 kilometers east of Maseru , the capital of Lesotho. The next town, Ha Mpiti, is just a little west of the point. Ha Baroana is located several kilometers from the route between Maseru and Thaba-Tseka in the central part of the country, which is used by buses and shared taxis .

Paintings

The paintings of Ha Baroana were probably drawn on the rock several hundred years ago; other estimates go beyond that. Hunting and animal motifs are shown, including leopards , lions , eland , cranes and guinea fowl . In addition, scenes from the life of the draftsman can be recognized, especially when dancing and hunting.
