The Habig-Hof is a historic and listed building on Wiedner Hauptstrasse 15-17 in Vienna's 4th district of Wieden .

history

The building was commissioned as a business and department store from 1896–1897 by the kuk court hat maker Peter Habig and built by Carl Holzmann and Heinrich Adam . For this purpose, the original plots were combined into one building that encompasses almost the entire city block.

Peter Habig's company P. & C. Habig moved into the ground floor around 1897, the store was probably designed by the same architect. The building was very large for the conditions at the time, with five floors and an attic. A central balcony, flanked by two bay windows that stretch across the floors, characterize the picture. The facade is designed in neo-baroque style. The roofs of the bay windows are crowned by the imperial double-headed eagle and the company sign " P. & C. Habig, court hat and chamber manufacturer of his imperial and royal apostolic majesty ". On the side facing Wiedner Hauptstrasse there are two separate entrances that lead into the inner courtyard.

The popular actor Fritz Imhoff (1891–1961) lived in Habig-Hof from 1945–1961.
