Habra ( Bengali : হাবরা ) is a city in the Indian state of West Bengal with 147,221 inhabitants (2011 census). It is located in the Uttar 24 Pargana district and is north of Kolkata .

Habra has a gender ratio of 974 women per 1000 men and thus a common surplus of men for India. The city had a literacy rate of 89.98% in 2011 (men: 92.99%, women: 86.90%). Literacy is thus far above the national average and that of West Bengal. Almost 98.2% of the population are Hindus , approx. 1.4% are Muslims , approx. 0.1% are Christians and approx. 0.2% stated no religious affiliation or practiced other religions. 7.9% of the population are children under 6 years of age. 31.3% live in slums and slums.
