Hacı Xanməmmədov

Hacı oğlu Dadaş Xanməmmədov (also Hacı Xanmämmädov , Russian Гаджи Дадаш оглы Ханмамедов * 15. June 1918 in Derbent , † 7. April 2005 in Baku , Azerbaijan ) was an Azerbaijani composer , conductor and music educator .

Life

Hacı Xanməmmədov studied from 1947 at the Azerbaijan State Conservatory , first in the composition class of Boris Isaakowitsch Seidman (1908–1981), later with Qara Qarayev . Quarayev already knew him as an accomplished tar player and suggested that a concerto for tar and symphony orchestra be submitted as his thesis. Xanməmmədov graduated in 1952. He taught for over 40 years at the Baku Music Technology School and at the Baku Music Academy , the former Azerbaijan State Conservatory. Since 1951 he has been a member of the Azərbaycan Bəstəkarlar İttifaqı [Association of Azerbaijani Composers] and since 1956 a board member. He was also director of the Azərbaycan Dövlət Akademik Filarmoniyası [Azerbaijan State Philharmonic] and the Azərbaycan Dövlət Mahnı və Rəqs Ansamblı [Azerbaijani State Ensemble for Singing and Dance].

Works (selection)

As his diploma thesis he submitted a concerto for tar and symphony orchestra , his tar concerto No. 1. Xanməmmədov was so fascinated by this genre that he had three more tar concerts in 1966, 1973 and 1984 follow. The soloist in the world premiere of Tar Concerto No. 1 was the tar player Əhsən Dadasov (1924–1976), who was highly regarded in Azerbaijan. He also wrote the first concerto for Kamantsche and symphony orchestra. These concerts are still popular repertoire pieces even today in the training of young tar players. His works have been performed successfully in Uzbekistan , Kazakhstan , Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan . The two operettas Bir dəqiqə and Bütün ərlər yaxşıdır were successfully performed in the Azerbaijan State Theater for Musical Comedies . He wrote various works, including a Sinfonietta and Qəhrəmani for folk instrument orchestra from 1956, the suites Azerbaijani Sketches from 1954, Bayram from 1955, Kolkhoz from 1958 and, Azerbaijan from 19 such as 0 , and a Harp concert from the year, Xəyali rəqs [Fantastic Dance] , 78 and Yürüş marşı. He also wrote the cantata Sülh ugrunda [For Peace] and numerous songs and romances . In 1990 he set the poem Əlimdə sazım ağlar for singing and folk instruments in memory of the victims of Black January .

Commemoration

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Haci Xanməmmədov's birthday, the I. Competition for Folk Musical Instruments of the Republic of Azerbaijan took place between November 26th and 30th, 2018.
