Haddy Jallow

Haddy Jallow (* 14. October 1985 ) is one of Gambia coming Swedish actress .

biography

Jallow was born in Gambia in 1985. Her mother married a Swede and brought her daughter to join her when she was eight. She grew up with two younger brothers, first in the Stockholm district of Rinkeby , and later in the suburb of Skogås . According to her own statements, she was discriminated against by classmates when she was a child because of her dark skin color. She devoted herself to drama at school and first appeared in front of the camera at the age of 15 in a supporting role in Daniel Fridell's television series En klass för sig .

Three years later, Fridell Jallow offered the leading role in his feature film Säg att du älskar mig (2006; international English title: Say That You Love me ). In the drama, she slipped into the role of fifteen-year-old Fatou , who is raped by two classmates. Fatou hides this. The amateur actress made her first film role known to a broad Swedish audience. In 2007 she was awarded the most important Swedish film prize, the Guldbagge , as best actress and prevailed against such well-known actresses as Amanda Ooms ( Sök ) at the award ceremony .

Despite the initial success, Jallow received no further role offers and opened a clothing store with her mother in 2007. She lives in the Aspudden district of Stockholm .
