Rinkeby-Kista is a district of Stockholm in the north of the city with about 46,000 inhabitants. It was created on January 1, 2007 by merging the former boroughs of Rinkeby and Kista .

structure

The municipality is divided into the districts of Rinkeby, Kista, Akalla, Husby and Hansta.

Husby

The Husby district is characterized by the fact that it now has a high proportion of migrants (around 83%). This district hit the international headlines when riots broke out there in May 2013 .

Rinkeby

Rinkeby was first mentioned in 1347 as a village with several farmsteads. The modern housing estates emerged from 1968 in connection with the Swedish million dollar program . About 90% of the population of Rinkeby are of foreign origin. About half of these do not have Swedish citizenship. In 2010, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017 there were riots, attacks on the police or other incidents, in some cases connected with arson and looting.

Kista

Kista [ ˈɕɪːsta ] is considered to be the largest IT center in Sweden , maybe even Europe. Kista earned the nicknames Wireless Valley and Science City through the settlement of important IT and mobile communications companies .

The Royal Technical University and Stockholm University are also jointly represented in Kista by the IT University to offer business-related training.
