Skarpnäck is a district in the south of Stockholm . It has about 40,000 inhabitants. The municipality is divided into the districts Hammarbyhöjden, Björkhagen, Enskededalen, Kärrtorp, Bagarmossen, Skarpnäcks Gård, Flaten, Orhem and Skrubba. In the 1950s, the city district was connected to central Stockholm by two lines of the subway .

Construction began in the 1920s. First of all, villas and smaller single-family houses were built, and from 1930 also multi-family houses. Sweden's longest long-distance hiking trail , the Sörmlandsleden , with a length of over 1000 km, begins in the municipality .
