The Sörmlandsleden is a hiking trail system with over 1,000 kilometers of marked trails. Starting in Stockholm , it runs in a ring through the Swedish province of Södermanland .

The Sörmlandsleden is divided into 62 main and 33 secondary or alternative stages from one and a half to 24 kilometers in length. The stage division sometimes seems quite "arbitrary", as these sometimes end on forest roads without any additional infrastructure such as travel to and from or overnight accommodation. Detached from the stage divisions, there are simple shelters, which are usually equipped with fire pits, sometimes with simple toilets ("outhouse"). Fresh water sources are signposted along the hiking trail. On some stages there is also the possibility of staying overnight on campsites or in youth hostels, boarding houses and hotels. Otherwise, the "Jedermannsrecht" (" Allemansrätten ") applies to a hike on the Sörmlandsleden .

Individual stages can also be used for leisurely day hikes.

The Sörmlandsleden runs mainly on narrow paths and forest roads through the varied natural and cultural landscape of Södermanland. Larger towns that are suitable as a starting point are (besides Stockholm) Södertälje , Järna , Mölnbo , Gnesta , Mariefred , Malmköping , Flen , Hälleforsnäs , Eskilstuna , Katrineholm , Oxelösund , Nyköping , Trosa and Nynäshamn . Shortly after Stockholm you pass the Tyresta National Park , one of the largest Swedish jungle areas outside the mountainous regions.
