Järna is a place ( tätort ) in the Swedish province of County of Stockholm and the historic province of Södermanland . It belongs to the municipality of Södertälje and is a good ten kilometers south of the central town of Södertälje .
history
Järna became an independent municipality in 1952 by merging Vårdinge, Överjärna and Ytterjärna. In 1971 it was incorporated into the municipality of Södertälje. Since 1989, Järna has again had a certain amount of self-administration through the Kommundelskontor ( something like the “municipal sub -administration office ”).
economy
There are around 2900 jobs in Järna. Just as many professionals commute to Södertälje and Stockholm . Almost 2000 of the jobs belong to around 100 different anthroposophical companies and institutions. Other major employers are Cerealia Foods and Fläktwoods.

20% of Järna's residents have a non-Swedish background. In contrast to Södertälje, most of the immigrants come from Finland , Germany , Norway , Denmark or Austria . Around half of the population lives in single-family houses .
education
Almost all schools in Järna are free schools; these include Waldorf schools , Montessori schools and three free grammar schools.
Attractions
The cultural center Kulturhuset i Ytterjärna by the architect Erik Asmussen, inaugurated in 1992, is worth seeing . It was awarded for its architecture in 2001.
