Hagecius is an impact crater to the south of the lunar front , south of Rosenberger crater and west of Pontécoulant . The rim of the crater is heavily eroded, the interior largely flat, except for the two large secondary craters B and C, which overlay the southeast area.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Bohemian astronomer and doctor Thaddaeus Hagecius .
