Hagen Wellschmidt (born September 5, 1960 in Weißwasser ) is a former German soccer player in midfield . He played for BSG Energie Cottbus in the GDR league .

Career

Wellschmidt played in his youth for his home team BSG Chemie Weißwasser . Then he went through the youth departments of the BFC Dynamo . In 1980 he was obliged by BSG Energie Cottbus, which played in the second-rate GDR league. In his first season in 1980/81 Wellschmidt completed all 22 league games and with eight goals and three more goals in the eight games of the promotion round had a decisive share in the promotion to the league. Wellschmidt made his debut there on August 22, 1981, when he was in the starting line-up on matchday 1 in the 5-0 defeat against Rot-Weiß Erfurt . In the 1981/82 season he was used 22 times, but was also replaced nine times. After the direct relegation he came to another 81 missions (12 goals) until 1986, before Cottbus rose again. In the league season 1986/87 Wellschmidt was only substituted twice, which is why he left the BSG Energie in the direction of BSG activist Brieske-Senftenberg , promoted to the GDR league, after the season . There he scored three goals in 18 games in 1987/88 . In 1988/89 he remained without a goal in twelve games. After two more years at BSG Lokomotive Cottbus , Wellschmidt moved to Schmogrower SV in 1991, where he ended his career in 1994.
