Haglöfs is a Swedish manufacturer of outdoor equipment and claims to be the largest in the industry in Scandinavia .

history

The company, which operates under the umbrella of Haglöfs AB , was founded in 1914 by Victor Haglöf in a wooden hut in the Swedish town of Torsång in Borlänge . Haglöfs initially only manufactured backpacks . The company was focused on the Swedish market until the end of the 1980s and has since expanded into other countries. There are now subsidiaries in Finland , Norway , Denmark , the United Kingdom and Germany . The German headquarters are in Kempten im Allgäu . In 2001 the company was bought by the private equity company Ratos AB, which sold it to Asics in 2010 for around 100 million euros .

Business figures

The turnover of the Haglöfs-Holding amounted to 495 million Swedish kronor in 2008 (at the time around 45 million euros), an increase of 15.7 percent compared to the previous year. The EBITA 2008 was 53.4 million crowns, an increase of 31.5 million over the previous year.

78 percent of sales were generated in 2008 with the sale of clothing, and a further six percent with shoes. Other outdoor equipment, including backpacks, sleeping bags , tents and other items, accounted for 16 percent of sales . 65 percent of sales were achieved in the Nordic countries, 31 percent in the rest of Europe and four percent in Asia.
