Hahn group
The Hahn group named with the emergency name (also Hahnengruppe or Cock group ) was a group of Attic vase painters of the black-figure style .
The Hahn group was from the end of the 6th to well into the 5th century BC. Active. It produced a large amount of lekyths . These were based on the shape of the older, tapered shapes. The group's emergency name results from the usual shoulder ornamentation of the group, which showed a rooster next to ivy leaves. The quality of the vases varies considerably, but is rarely good or better. Even if originality is sometimes sought, the group generally only presents uninspired mass-produced goods. The motifs, for example Medea heads, are reminiscent of simultaneous Athena heads on coins and, like the rosettes that are also shown, appear quite archaic. The Phanyllis group worked similarly to the Hahn group .
