The Haifa Theater ( Hebrew תֵּאַטְרוֹן חֵיפָה Te'aṭrōn Chejfah ; plene also תיאטרון) is the municipal theater in Haifa , Israel .

The Haifa Theater was founded by Abba Chuschi , Mayor of Haifa. The Haifa Theater, founded in 1961, employs Jewish and Arab actors and enjoys an international reputation for performing provocative works. Its first director was Josef Milo. This theater was the first urban theater in Israel and the first to run a marketing campaign promoting season tickets. The aim is to get residents excited about theater creativity and to strengthen cultural awareness in the city. The Haifa Theater promotes all forms of theater productions. It serves as a stepping stone for Israeli playwrights and producers and encourages original work.

The troupe performs eight to ten pieces a year in front of over 30,000 spectators. It performs in cities, kibbutzim and localities across Israel and regularly presents works of modern theater in Hebrew and Arabic .

Some producers who started their professional careers in this theater are Hanoch Levin , Yehoshua Sobol and Abraham B. Yehoshua .
