The leccinum griseum , hornbeam Röhrling or Grauhederl ( Leccinellum carpini , Syn. : Leccinum carpini, leccinum griseum and leccinum pseudoscabrum ) is a species of fungus of the family of Dickröhrlingsverwandten (Boletaceae).
features
The pitted, wrinkled hat is caramel-colored and darker than the similar common birch mushroom . It can be up to 12 cm wide and tears open in fields with age. The tube pad is bulged around the stem, first dirty-whitish, then gray-olive. The stem is covered with blackish-brown scales and is quite thick and firm. The meat turns gray-violet after cutting and turns black after a short time.

The hornbeam is a mycorrhizal fungus that is associated with the hornbeam . It occurs in parks and forests.
meaning
The hornbeam is considered an excellent edible mushroom. Like all species of the genus Leccinellum , the fungus is under nature protection in Germany and may only be collected in small quantities for personal use.
