The Halberstädter Roland is a new installation made of Halberstadt sandstone with a size of approximately 4.27 meters (with a base 5.25 meters). This statue stands in Halberstadt on the west side of the town hall, the district town of the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt . There is evidence of a Roland figure as early as 1381, but made of wood. There were several wooden specimens up to the stone figure, but they were lost. The re-installation is dated 1433 and this completion date is engraved on the belt of the figure. This Roland, along with the Bremen and Quedlinburger, is one of the oldest of its kind.

In his left hand Roland holds the shield with the double-headed imperial eagle , in his right the double-edged sword Durendal .

For 500 years, the location of the Roland was the southwest corner of the Halberstadt town hall , which was destroyed in the bombing of April 8, 1945 . By walling of Roland had escaped the same fate. From 1951 to 1998 it stood in front of the south tower of the Martini Church , and since then it has been in a historical location in front of the rebuilt town hall.
