The Half Moon Crater (English for crescent crater ) is a volcanic crater on the Hut Point Peninsula in the southwest of the Antarctic Ross Island . It is located 800 m southwest of Castle Rock .
Frank Debenham , participant in the British Terra Nova Expedition (1910-1913), named it descriptively after its shape in the course of measurements of the peninsula carried out in 1912.
