Halloween is an American speed metal band from Detroit .

history

Halloween formed as Bitch in 1981 and quickly gained popularity in the club scene in their hometown of Detroit. On Halloween 1984 it was decided to be renamed Halloween and nicknamed "Heavy Metal Horror Show". The band dressed up for each show to match their names and surnames. In 1985 the debut album Don't Metal with Evil was released on the Detroit independent label Motor City Metal Records (MCM). Shortly thereafter, the band managed to gather around 2,000 fans in live performances. The first edition of the album is now a sought-after rarity among collectors, as MCM did not manage to sell the album in adequate numbers.

Although the band opened for big names like Manowar , Megadeth , or Riot and even the Cro-Mags , the band's career stagnated, among other things due to line-up problems and a lack of promotion by the record company. The second album No One Gets Out was not released until 1991 , followed by Victims of the Night in 1997, which was actually planned as the successor to the debut album. Then followed 4.0 Tricks, Treats and Other Tales from the Crypt 2003 and Horror Fire 2006. In 2012 their debut album was reissued by Pure Steel Records and released for the first time in Europe on LP and CD. Previous versions were either imports or bootlegs . On February 25, 2012, the band's last work to date, the album Terrortory, was released .

meaning

Halloween are considered a cult band in the speed metal scene. Their cult status in Europe is based primarily on their debut album, which is traded as a rarity. Although the spelling is different, the band was occasionally confused with Helloween , also because both bands have a pumpkin head in their logo. In Europe the band performed at the Keep It True 2004 and the Headbangers Open Air 2008, among others .
