Hallstatt burial mound group (Nennslingen)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hallstatt period grave mound group in Nennslingen (about 900 meters west-northwest of the Lutheran church), a municipality in the Middle Franconian district of Weissenburg-Gunzenhausen ( hallway Sandberg ) is as archaeological monument (File no. D-5-6932-0134) under monument protection provided.

The number of burial mounds and cremation graves from the Hallstatt period is unknown, as the operation of a sand pit already led to the loss of an unknown number of graves. An excavation was carried out in 1950 by M. Frank.

Two cremation graves are secured, with stones surrounding the corpse burn and the vessel additions. Two other graves were mounds with a central stone packing, corpse burn and vessel additions.
