Ḫallušu-Inšušinak

Ḫallušu-Inšušinak (also Challuschu-Inschuschinak ; about 699-693 BC) was an Elamite king., Whose name is mainly known from Babylonian chronicles . He is mostly identified with Challuschi-Inschuschinak of the Elamite sources.

According to the chronicle, he should be the brother of his predecessor Šutruk-Nahhunte III. have been and ruled for six years. There is also a legal text from Nippur , which is said to have been written in his 15th year in office. This has created some research controversy that has not yet been resolved.

In 694 BC The Assyrian king Sennacherib attacked Elamite provinces to catch Babylonian refugees and then to destroy the Babylonian king Mušezib-Marduk . The Babylonian sources also report this, but claim that the Elamans attacked Mesopotamia and captured Akkad and Sippar and put Nergal-usezib on the Babylonian throne, whereupon they could defeat the Assyrians.

The conquest of Babylonia is confirmed by the ruler's dated texts found in Babylonia. Ḫallušu-Inšušinak is said to have been owned by his own people on 26th Tašritu ( October 14th ) 693 BC. Have been overthrown. His son Kutir-Nahhunte IV. Succeeded him to the throne.
