The Halskleinod (lat. Monile) is in the Heraldry a laid around the so-called helmet neck piece of jewelry.
A coin , medal or other pendant is suitable for this , as well as a personal badge of honor on a ribbon or chain. The use and its heraldic interpretation are controversial, especially since it is not mentioned in the blazon . You only see the creativity of the heraldic artist in it. The other time it should show the affiliation to a tournament society. It is also interpreted as a sign that has been given to the winner by the defeated in the tournament. It was not allowed to be around the helmet neck of a citizen's coat of arms, since citizens bearing the coat of arms were rarely able to participate in tournaments. The neck jewel has been worn with the helmet since the 15th century.
