He is the son of Emir Isa bin Salman Al Chalifa . He attended private schools in Great Britain and later military schools in the United Kingdom and the United States .
In 2002, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa took a clear stand in favor of US military action against Iraq . At the same time, he called on Iraq to implement the UN resolutions unconditionally.
Hamad was invited to the wedding of William Mountbatten-Windsor and Catherine Middleton in April 2011.
