Hamadou Djibo Issaka (born July 3, 1977 in Niamey ) is a rower from Niger and a Nigerien master of rowing.

Issaka took part in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London . The 1.69 meter tall Nigerien, who was originally a swimmer, came into contact with rowing in the Egyptian city of Alexandria in November 2011 . At that time, a camp was being held there for African nations interested in starting a wildcard at the Olympic Games . There he sat in an Olympic competition boat for the first time, as such boats were not accessible to him in his home country. In Niger, he trained with a fishing boat. From May 2012 he was preparing for the Olympic competition abroad. He trained for two months at the International Rowing Development Center in Tunisia and finally on the Hazewinkel rowing course in Belgium. He owes his participation in the Olympic Games to a wildcard that he received for participating in the competition in the single . A wildcard ensures that all nations can take part in the games, even if no athlete from a nation could qualify for the Olympics. Djibo Issaka was the first Nigerien ever to represent his country in this sport at the Olympics.

In the preliminary run, Issaka covered the 2000 m long distance in a time of 8: 25.56. He was about a minute behind fourth in the race. In the repechage he needed for the route 8: 39.66 and was the fourth of four participants to the finish. In the semifinals, Issaka needed 9: 07.99 and finished 4th (last). Issaka delivered a time of 8: 53.88 in the final and reached the finish line as 3rd (last). In the overall ranking he reached 33rd place. Issaka stood out during the competition due to the lack of the usual technique in this sport, but received broad support from the spectators present.

The British rower Steven Redgrave criticized Issaka's participation in the games. He said that there are better rowers from other nations who are not allowed to participate in the games. The International Olympic Committee then stated that Issaka would not have taken the place of another rower, but was added to the already existing starting field.
