Hamborggårdsten

The Hamborggårdsten is a boulder which the glacier of the last ice age, approximately 15,000 years ago by the Åland Islands to Denmark transported. The granite stone with red feldspar crystals in a dark mass, which is over a billion years old, weighs around 50 tons and is located in Bække Mark south of Billund in Jutland .

The stone was originally 20 meters from the street that gave it its name, from where it was moved to its current location near the street in 1990. On either side of the stone are two smaller fragments that were chipped off the large rock by frost.

A legend tells that Harald Blauzahn wanted to bring the stone to Jelling , but gave up the project when his son Sven Gabelbart rebelled against him.

The Bække ship landing is in the immediate vicinity .
