Billund is located in southwest Jutland and is the second largest city in Billund municipality in Denmark . According to the statistics office, the population is 6,662 (as of January 1, 2020).

Billund is known for the headquarters of the Danish toy manufacturer LEGO and the Legoland amusement park .

Billund is about 13 kilometers from Grindsted , 56 kilometers from Esbjerg and 27 kilometers from the regional capital Vejle .

The city has an international airport with a 3100 meter long runway. The Billund Airport is the second largest airport in Denmark with the IATA code BLL. According to its own information, the airport had more than 2.2 million passengers in 2009. The city's former train station was on the Vejle – Grindsted railway line , it was closed in 1957, today buses connect to the nearest long-distance train station in Vejle on the Århus – Fredericia railway line . There are currently specific plans to reconnect Billund to the railway network via a 15–20 km long new line to Jelling. Two stops are planned, one at the airport and one at the Legoland theme park. The targeted opening date is 2020.

Companies

Billund is the headquarters of the world famous toy manufacturer LEGO A / S . In addition, there is Airsupport at the airport, manufacturer of widely used flight planning software for scheduled and business aviation.
