In the Landesjugendring Hamburg e. V. (LJR) are active youth associations and working groups at state level to promote self-determined, creative and joint action by children and young people in Hamburg. The LJR supports the diverse voluntary engagement of young people in order to secure the future of a social and democratic society.

The LJR emerged in 1976 from the former Hamburger Jugendring (HJR), which was dissolved in 1971.

aims

The State Youth Council represents the interests of young people, 19 member associations, four associated organizations and over 200,000 young people active in associations in public - in particular towards the Senate, the citizenship, the political parties, the district parliaments and authorities. The LJR is an organ and expression of the democratic self-determination of children and young people in Hamburg. The highest decision-making body is the general assembly, which takes place at least twice a year. The board represents the diversity of the associations.

The state youth council influences the development of youth policy and youth work as well as the financial and legal framework by taking a stand on youth, educational and socio-political issues and developing activities.
