Hamburg tulip for German-Turkish public spirit

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hamburg Tulip for German-Turkish Community spirit has been awarded by the Körber Foundation in Hamburg since 1999 . It honors innovative German - Turkish projects to improve coexistence in the Hanseatic city . Since 2006, the Körber Foundation in Berlin has awarded a similar award under the same conditions.

The Hamburg tulip, each endowed with 10,000 euros, is currently awarded to several projects once a year as part of a festive award ceremony. The money is intended to enable the award-winning projects to continue.

The tulip was chosen as the namesake for the price because they were originally from the Ottoman Empire to arise until about 450 years ago initially Vienna and the Netherlands to Germany came, but now long perceived as a native plant. With it the hope for a successful integration should be expressed.
