Berlin tulip for German-Turkish public spirit
The Berlin tulip for German-Turkish public spirit is an award first given in 2006 by the Hamburg Körber Foundation in Berlin based on an initiative that was launched in Hamburg in 1999. The Berliner Tulpe awards prizes for innovative German-Turkish projects to improve communal coexistence in the German capital.
The Berlin-based initiators of the event are the German-Turkish radio station Radyo Metropol FM , the Workshop of Cultures and the Berlin State Chancellery . The patron of the event is Klaus Wowereit , the governing mayor of Berlin.
A prominent jury, chaired by the Commissioner for Integration and Migration of the Senate of Berlin, which in 2006 consisted of Rita Süssmuth , Edzard Reuter , Reinhild Winkler , Tanja Wedhorn , Nihat Sorgeç , Emine Sevgi Özdamar , Bahattin Kaya , Murat Topal and Idil Üner , will decide about the award of prizes. The main prizes are each awarded with 10,000 euros, which may only be used to continue the award-winning project.
