Daniel Schaerer (born October 20, 1985 ) is an American - Swiss athlete . He holds the Swiss U23 record in discus and was elected Swiss athletics newcomer in 2006. With the limit for the World Athletics Championships 2009 in Berlin , he qualified for a major event among the active for the first time, but was unable to qualify for the final .

Schaerer is the son of a Swiss who emigrated to the USA and lives in San Diego and is a student . He starts for LC Zurich and is trained by Patrick Buchs .
