Hamilton is a parish in Monroe County , Mississippi , United States . The village was the original county seat until Monroe County was divided when Lowndes County was founded in the south. The Conty Seat was then further north in Aberdeen .

schools

Part of the school district of Monroe County are an elementary school, a library , a middle and high school, and two sports halls. There are opportunities for more activities outside of the school, but compared to other places in the US, these are less as the school is very small.

The school has a band program and a choir project.

Hamilton owns an athletics club , a golf team, a football team (Lions), a basketball team and a softball team (Lady Lions), which has already won the state championships.

Tronox (formerly Kerr-McGee ) is one of the largest employers in Mississippi. The plant is the third largest of its kind in the world. The company produces titanium (IV) oxide , which is mainly used as a white pigment in paint. Tronox currently has 430 employees and produces 225,000 tons of titanium (IV) oxide annually.
