history

Hamisfeld is first mentioned on February 22, 1350 in the Amriswil chronicles. Next time again in 1377 with a slightly different spelling. At that time it was called Haimlisfeld. That means roughly as much as "Heimolt's field". Heimolt means "governing the home".

The Hamisfeld song

The Hamisfeld song is a poem by August Keller, a teacher who lived in Hamisfeld in the century before last. Here is his text:

It is a song of the beautiful and daring Hamisfeld In

the beautiful Thurgi
vill villages it is nice and big
but what I mean
is just one of the
most beautiful
and dearest in the world:
E tusigwaggers Nestli
is just the Hamisfeld.

Om Weg von Brüsch- uf Dozwil
liits our Sonnehald,
half-ridged, wils von Böme
all around he whole forest.
s'denggt everyone: He's right ko,
where he
chooses home , s'chonn a quiet live
in the quiet Hamisfeld.

Zwor Hüser hets nöd villi,
s'send öppe twelvei no.
Zom Buure mest iggrierter,
stönds very sedate do.
There is no need
for a bus for sini chlini world. We
live au ohni cinema
and lido z'Hamisfeld.

And if D'Chriesi riifet,
where couldn’t it be so
that me so vill and gueti
chonn günne Johr for Johr?
And also juicy apples
and berries are never missing.
Yo, yo, it is a fruit wax
e blessed Hamisfeld.

It dengget d'Hamisfelder
z'vill dörste was nöd great.
She fills
the barrels spontaneously at the autumn tide.
Drom isch do au en Chüefer,
where the craftsmanship is not concealed:
Sin Hammerschlag sounds mighty on the
whole of Hamisfeld.

And if you don’t raise any money
and don’t send a millionaire,
then your life will
not be very happy.
You do the right thing and send a creative,
so long you are dor d 'world;
s'wa good, w'would be
as good as z'Hamisfeld.

And if a couple turns chifle
and bosge mitenand,
then they are completely chopped up
and down.
What het me, if ne all too pissed
off against each other?
Zom Hässigsii and poisonous
hönds nöd Ziit z'Hamisfeld.

Every Hamisfeld
emol can be seen in front of the gate of heaven,
where de Petrus, as the watchman,
as strict, stumbles away.
But he was quite sure that he
would be tormented by doubts:
Gang inne zo de Brave,
bisch jo vo Hamisfeld.

What is
true with all of this: Whoever is born there,
and whoever lives there is a true
Christian.
Drom sings as long as the sun shines up
and heart lights up:
Long live, high, you blessed,
you waggers Hamisfeld.
