history

Dozwil was first mentioned in 1385 as Dotzwile. In the Middle Ages , Dozwil was an episcopal-Constance fief . In 1454 the abbot of St. Gallen gave Hans von An (d) wil the power to rule. In 1560 the Blarer von Wartensee acquired the lower court ( opening ), which the abbot took over in 1671 and administered from the Romanshorneramt .

Dozwil belonged to the parish of Kesswil , which converted to the Reformation in 1529 . The few Catholics belonged to Sommeri . From 1820 to 1870 hand-weaving led to prosperity, after which the secondary school was relocated from Uttwil to the up-and-coming Dozwil in 1854 . At the end of the 19th century the economy stagnated. In the 20th century, agriculture (fruit growing), trade, a linen factory and later a shoe factory, as well as Lista Kunststofftechnik AG, which was founded in 1960, offered earnings. Lista Kunststofftechnik has been operating as EJOT Kunststofftechnik AG since 1996 and in 1999 employed 120 people. In 2000, a good half of those employed in Dozwil worked in the second sector . The extra- church St. Michaelsvereinigung founded by Paul Kuhn found a large influx after 1970 and shaped the village with its buildings.

From 1816, Dozwil formed a municipal municipality that coincided territorially with the local municipality , which is why the two municipalities were united in 1870 to form a so-called unitary municipality . In order to maintain its political autonomy in the long term, the municipality has been trying for some time to attract new residents and to expand the infrastructure. In 1996 a new school complex was inaugurated.
