Niedersommeri is a former local municipality and a settlement of the municipality of Sommeri in the Arbon district of the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland . The parish formed from 1798 with the former local community Obersommeri the municipal community Sommeri. On January 1, 1967 , Niedersommeri merged to form the unified municipality of Sommeri.
history
The Payer von Hagenwil owned the sovereignty of Niedersommeri in the 14th century, and in 1451 they sold it to local farmers. From them the prince abbey of St. Gallen acquired the rule in 1474 and subordinated Lower Summeri to the Maleficent Court of Sommeri until 1798 . The church was incorporated into the Konstanz cathedral chapter around 1400 . After the Reformation there was an ecclesiastical simultaneous relationship from 1534 . The collature was exchanged for the prince abbey in 1749.
The residents were farming, later fruit growing, cattle and dairy farming, a cheese dairy is mentioned in 1900. Around 1860 there were some trading companies in Lower Summeri, including a. a mill product trade, and embroidery and ship embroidery, which employed 80 workers in 1911. From 1956 to 1994 there was an upholstered furniture factory.
