Schocherswil is a village in the political municipality of Amriswil in the Arbon district of the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland .
From 1803 to 1996, Schocherswil formed a local community in the Zihlschlacht municipal community . Schocherswil has been part of the municipality of Amriswil since January 1, 1997.

Schocherswil is located on a hill in the Aachtal two kilometers southwest of Amriswil.
history
Schocherswil was probably mentioned as Wilare in 883 , as ze dem hanging Wile in 1359 and as Schocherswylen in 1413 . Excavations in the years 1963 to 1967 on the Burgstock west of Schocherswil point to a medieval moth , which was probably inhabited by Wiler's Episcopal-Constance ministers in the 13th century .

The lower court Schocherswil belonged to the rule Eppishausen that in 1447 an opening received and 1372-1535 as episcopal konstanzisches fief in the hands of Helmsdorf was. From 1698 to 1798 she owned the Muri monastery .
Schocherswil, reformed since 1529, always shared the fate of Sommeri in the church . A Chrischona community has existed since 1873 .
Grain cultivation in the three-part system formed the economic basis, along with fruit, grass and, until 1900, viticulture. From 1817 potatoes were also grown and a cheese dairy was set up in 1864. The small business was u. a. represented by a bakery, butcher and cooperage. Mechanical embroidery existed from 1878 to 1895.

Of the total of 378 inhabitants in the village of Schocherswil in 2018, 23 or 6.1% were foreign nationals. 164 (43.4%) were Protestant Reformed and 98 (25.9%) were Roman Catholic.
