Eppishausen is a settlement and a former lordship in the municipality of Erlen in the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland . The village of Erlen-Eppishausen is listed in the inventory of protected sites in Switzerland .
history
In 1159 the St. Stephan monastery in Konstanz owned a manse in Eppishausen . Eppishausen Castle , occupied from 1372 onwards, was, like the rule of law, an episcopal-Constance fiefdom , whose first known owner was Rudolf von Rheineck. His heirs sold the rule to the Lords of Helmsdorf in 1372 . The first written village opening dates from 1447. In 1535, Eppishausen came to the von Bernhausen family, from 1698 to 1798 the rule of Eppishausen with the bailiwicks of Eppishausen, Schocherswil and Biessenhofen belonged to the Muri monastery , under which the Eppishausen Castle underwent a radical structural redesign. After the rule was abolished in 1798, it was sold in 1812 to the literary historian Joseph von Lassberg , who lived there from 1818 to 1838. Today a private old people's home is housed in the building.
In 1994 a golf course was built next to the castle.
