Oberaach is a village in the municipality of Amriswil in the Arbon district of the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland .
From 1803 to 1978, Oberaach , located on the Aach , formed a local community to which Niederaach also belonged from 1936 . On January 1, 1979 , the local community Oberaach merged to form the unitary community Amriswil.
history
Oberaach was first mentioned in 883 as Aha . The Bailiwick of Oberaach, an episcopal-Constance fiefdom , came in 1351 from the Lords of Rorschach to the von Helmsdorf , around 1600 to the von Bernhausen and from 1646 to 1798 belonged to the von Salis-Soglio . The court administrators appointed by Salis, for example the local Häberli from 1714 to 1798. In the church, Oberaach always shared the fate of Sommeri . In 1964 Oberaach received its own church, but remained part of the Amriswil-Sommeri parish .
The residents cultivated fields, fruit and meadows. The Rutishauser tannery was founded in 1823, from which the Arnold Löw & Cie. originated, which was liquidated in 1985. There was also embroidery and a pottery in the village. From founded in 1908 Mosterei Oberaach 1994, a fruit processing operation of Pomdor Suisse was. Today the cider factory belongs to the Ramseier company . It is the largest and most modern cider factory in Switzerland.

Of the total of 925 inhabitants in Oberaach in 2018, 226 or 24.4% were foreign nationals. 324 (35.0%) were Protestant Reformed and 238 (25.7%) were Roman Catholic.

The Gasthof National in Niederaach is included in the list of cultural assets in Amriswil .
