Obersommeri is a settlement in the municipality of Sommeri in the Arbon district of the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland . The village, located on the south-eastern foothills of the ridge of the lake , and the former municipality of Niedersommeri , formed the municipal municipality of Sommeri from 1798 to 1966 . On January 1, 1967 , the Obersommeri local community merged to form the Sommeri unitary community .

history

Parish before the merger in 1967

In 1472 the prince abbey of St. Gallen acquired the Vogtei Obersommeri and later reorganized the lower courts Kümmertshausen , Niedersommeri and Obersommeri as Malefizgericht Sommeri. In 1474 an opening was recorded. The only rights of the ruling places in Thurgau were state sovereignty and the blood court , all others exercised the prince abbey until 1798. In church terms, Obersommeri always shared the fate of Lower Summeri.

A cheese dairy is mentioned in 1852. From 1860 onwards an industrial development began with embroidery and stocking manufacture, but this was reversed by the embroidery crisis in the 20th century.
