Hemmerswil is a former unified municipality and is now part of the municipality of Amriswil in the Arbon district of the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland .

From 1816 to 1831, Hemmerswil formed a local community of the municipal community of Salmsach and from 1832 to 1924 the unified community of Hemmerswil. On January 1, 1925, the unified community of Hemmerswil was incorporated into the local community of Amriswil.

geography

Hemmerswil is on the Amriswil – Arbon road and is now on the south-eastern edge of Amriswil. The hamlets Almensberg , Hölzli and Rüti belonged to the municipality of Hemmerswil .

history

Parish before the merger in 1925

From the Middle Ages to 1798, Hemmerswil was part of the prince-abbot-Sankt-Gallic maleficent court Sommeri . Almensberg and Rüti belonged to the Heiliggeistspital St. Gallen (hospital court), Hölzli was part of the lower court of Amriswil.

The Hemmerswilers were always in church after Amriswil.

Although Hemmerswil was still a farming village around 1900, many residents were already working in Amriswil's industries.
