Almensberg is a former Niedergericht and a hamlet in the municipality of Amriswil in the Arbon district of the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland .
history
Almensberg was mentioned in 1296 as Uolbrohsberg , 1355 as Albisperg and around 1830 as Ammersberg . In the Middle Ages, the landlord was the St. Gallen Monastery , which around 1300 lent goods to the Heiliggeistspital St. Gallen in Almensberg and its surroundings. Around 1460, the Heiliggeistspital acquired the jurisdiction in Almensberg, which had previously belonged to the rule of Hagenwil . The independence of the so-called hospital court, consisting of Almensberg, Rüti and Niederaach , was confirmed in 1525 by the ten federal locations.
Because the inhabitants stayed with the new faith after the Reformation , but Almensberg belonged to the Catholic parish of Hagenwil, there were numerous inconveniences up until it joined the Reformed parish of Sommeri- Amriswil in 1689. In 1812 Almensberg was assigned to the local community of Hemmerswil , which was merged with Amriswil in 1925.
