From 1812 to 1919, Herten was a local parish in the municipal municipality of Frauenfeld and is now called Herten-Bannhalde, a district of the municipality of Frauenfeld in the Frauenfeld district of the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland . On January 1, 1919 , the local community of Herten merged to form the unified community of Frauenfeld.
geography
Today, Herten is on the eastern outskirts of Frauenfeld on the northern slope of the Stählibuck, halfway between the Thur valley and the ridge of the hill. The former local community comprised Herten, Ergeten, Griesen, Hub and Oberherten.
history
From the Middle Ages to 1798, the Lower Court Herten with Herten, Ergeten, Griesen, Hub and Oberherten belonged to the Tobel Commandery . Herten was always at the church in Frauenfeld.
At the end of the 19th century, cattle and dairy farming replaced arable farming. In 1880 there was a cheese dairy in Herten. Viticulture was replaced by fruit growing in the early 20th century. Although Herten retained its rural character well into the 20th century, some of the residents were already working in Frauenfeld's industries around 1900.
