Wellhausen [ vɛlˈhauzən ] (in the local dialect : [ ʋelːˈhuːʑə ]) is a district of the political municipality Felben-Wellhausen in the Swiss canton of Thurgau . Until 1983 it formed its own local parish within the former municipal parish of Felben .
Wellhausen lies on an alluvial cone at the foot of the wave mountain .
history
The oldest evidence for the name of the village can be found in documents from 1314 (Welhuss) and 1321 (Wellehusen) . It is a combination of the Old High German personal name Wëllo and the locative used dative of the word hūs 'house'. The basic form is * (ze) wellinhūsun 'at the houses of Wëllo'. The name of Wellenberg Castle above the village is documented as early as 1205.
From the late Middle Ages until 1798, Wellhausen was a lower court of the Wellenberg rule . In 1815 the Wellenberg property passed to Joachim Leonz Eder , who played a decisive role in shaping the regeneration period in Thurgau alongside Thomas Bornhauser . In 1872, the Wellenberg farm was separated from the Thundorf parish and assigned to the Wellhausen parish.
In the church, Wellenberg shared the fate of Felben.

The forest on the Wellenberg was used together with Mettendorf , Hüttlingen and Eschikofen until Wellhausen left the forest cooperative in 1758 . The rifle house built around 1565 and destroyed in 1842 with a glass pane cycle from 1680 and the court and parish hall from the 18th century bear witness to the earlier prosperity of the community. In addition to forestry and livestock farming, grain cultivation is also documented in three tents . The Wellenberg Castle has belonged to Wellhausen since 1873. Agriculture dominated until 1960. Numerous residential buildings have been built since then.
